I saw this movie on opening day so it couldn't be spoiled for me. Ultimately, I went in with the propper expectations for this movie (I think) because I enjoyed it more than the first. I don't want to get into the plot details, as those are what makes this movie a joy, but I do want to touch on a few things about the movie.

1.) Yes the movie is noticeably long. Don't make immediate plans for after you see this movie. You will enjoy it more if you don't have to think about how long it is and you are able to surrender your imagination over to it.

2) Don't fall into the "bigger an better" mindset that ruins horror sequels. A lot of people who were disappointed by this movie all say the same thing: "It did out do the first movie" (or something to that effect). Here's the fact of the matter, I don't thing that's what they are trying to do. I think they were just trying to make another truly great horror moving about the Warrens. They succeeded in that. Don't expect bigger and flashier, because it honestly would have ruined the movie.

3.) Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are ridiculously good together on screen. They are what makes this movie feel like a genuine thing.

James Wan is the next John Carpenter in my book. Besides a few missteps ( Saw, Dead Silence and for some insane reason Furious 7) he has made and produced some of the best horror films
since the 80s (Insidious 1-3, Annabelle, The Conjuring and the glorious Conjuring 2). Insidious 1 scared me the most out of all of those but Conjuring 2
is by far his best made film yet. It shows this guy can really direct the whole package and not just excellent scares. I was mesmerized through the entire 134
min runtime. So much so that I stuck around for the entire end credits. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga knock it out of the park again with their excellent
performances as well as the rest of the cast in an extremely well acted horrror film. Its also a gorgeous looking horror film as well. The locations and
Cinematography are outstanding. Admittely its not as scary as I would`ve liked it to be but that could be due to the fact that its so well made which makes
the lack of scares not even matter for me. This is one terrific horror movie and I really hope James Wan does the 3rd one and continues to do what he does best. Horror films!
